The 50% general CGT discount is available to individuals and trusts (but not companies) that have held a CGT asset for more than 12 months. ChangeGPS CGT applies the general CGT discount at the scenario level in Step 4 — Scenarios, not in the Step 2 capital gain calculation. The Step 2 calculation shows the gross capital gain (sale price minus cost base minus capital losses). When you create a scenario in Step 4, the app applies the 50% CGT discount and then applies the Small Business CGT Concessions in the correct order as required by Division 152. Companies are not entitled to the 50% general CGT discount, so the discount is not applied when the entity type is Company.
